Champai Soren met the Governor this evening, and also gave evidence of support from 43
MLAs. Still, the Governor has not yet been invited to form the government. There is a situation
of confusion due to the absence of any government in the state.
Jharkhand Mukti Morcha leader Hemant Soren has filed a petition in the Supreme Court on Thursday against his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate in the money laundering case.
Hemant Soren was arrested by ED on Wednesday night after resigning from the post of Chief Minister of Jharkhand.
In place of Hemant Soren, Champai Soren, who was the transport minister of the state, has been selected as his successor.
Champai soren meets the governor:
A five-member delegation of MLAs led by Champai Soren had come to meet the Governor.
Coming out of Raj Bhavan after meeting the Governor, Champai Soren while talking to the
media said, “We have demanded from the Governor that the process of government formation
should be started soon, the Governor has told us that the process will start soon.

Champai Soren wrote a letter to the Governor expressing concern over the delay in forming the government, after which the Governor gave an appointment to Champai Soren at 05:30 pm.
Champai Soren had also reached Raj Bhavan on the night of 31 January and presented his claim to form the government to the Governor with a letter signed by 43 MLAs of the alliance, but he was not allowed to go inside the Raj Bhavan.
Earlier, JMM had also shared a video by Ranchi Circuit House in which 43 MLAs of the ruling
alliance were seen counting in support of Champai Soren.
What did Champai Soren write in the letter to the Governor?
JMM legislature party leader Champai Soren wrote a letter to the Governor at around 2 pm on February 1 after waiting for the call from Raj Bhavan for about 16 hours.
He wrote, “It is only after the resignation of Hemant Soren that the claim to form the government under my leadership has been made. We have submitted to you the claim of support of 47 MLAs and the letter of support signed by 43 MLAs.”
Champai Soren said, there is no government in the state for the last 18 hours. This is a situation of confusion. It is requested that we be called to form the government.”
Champai Soren has also said that if the Governor wants to be satisfied then all the 43 MLAs can
reach Raj Bhavan. If his claim is accepted by 5.30 pm, he can be sworn in as Chief Minister
today itself.
Meanwhile, the alliance MLAs are being taken to Hyderabad. State Congress President Rajesh
Thakur said, “Three-four MLAs will stay in Ranchi. We have enough numbers to form the
government. All 43 MLAs are united. We have full confidence. We will keep meeting him until
the Governor calls us.”

All the MLAs reached Ranchi airport by bus at seven in the evening.
Rajesh Thakur, who was traveling in the bus, said, “We are going to the airport. You know what
kind of people these are, they can do anything at any time. All 43 MLAs are going.”
According to news agency ANI, all preparations have been completed at Hyderabad Airport. The bus has reached there which will take the MLAs.
