Assam Governor:
Leader of Opposition in Assam Assembly Debabrata Saikia has submitted a memorandum to Assam

president Bhupen Bora and the unruly behavior of BJP workers during Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo
Nyay Yatra.

the present state government led by Himanta Biswa Sarma is creating “serious administrative
blockade” and is trying to disrupt the peaceful Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra through physical force and
criminal forces. For this, they are resorting to uncontrolled hooligans. “An attack against our senior
leaders.”
“During the yatra on January 21, the vehicle of senior AICC leader Jairam Ramesh was forcefully

Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra stopped from entering Guwahati city, clash broke out
“Subsequently, at Jamugurihat, Mr Bora was physically attacked by BJP supporters, leaving his nose
bleeding, while around 20-25 miscreants also targeted Rahul Gandhi and at several places,
journalists were also not spared ,” Mr Saikia said.
”Even before these incidents, Mr Sarma’s BJP government has been using the police and civil
administration to disrupt the Yatra. At the meeting venue and during the padyatra, anti-yatha posters
and banners were displayed under the protection of Assam Police,” he alleged.
The Congress leader said he had complained to the DGP but tweeted that he had made all kinds of
security arrangements during the yatra. “However, this is a blatant lie as no such arrangement has
been seen on the ground,” he said.
“The Congress had applied for the necessary permission for the yatra and completed the formalities,
but the panicked state government created administrative delays to create all possible hurdles,” Mr
Saikia alleged.
”In view of the grave law and order situation currently prevailing in Assam due to the goons of the
ruling party, we have brought this matter to your notice and demand a judicial inquiry into the
physical attack on our PCC President.” He added.
