New Delhi: During a party event, Ajit Pawar delivered a pointed remark, addressing the accusations leveled against him regarding the alleged usurpation of the party founded by Sharad Pawar.
He emphasized that both the Election Commission of India and the Maharashtra Assembly Speaker had adjudicated in his favor, validating his faction’s legitimacy within the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). This pronouncement served as a resounding affirmation, solidifying Ajit’s group as the authentic representation of the NCP, according to him.
The ongoing discord between Sharad Pawar and Ajit Pawar persists, particularly concerning their affiliations within the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). In a significant move underscoring this tension, Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister, Ajit Pawar, openly criticized his uncle. During a statement on Friday, Ajit Pawar asserted that had he been the offspring of a senior leader, his ascension to the party presidency would have been effortless. Additionally, as the erstwhile NCP President who defected to the Shiv Sena-BJP coalition last year, Ajit refuted allegations suggesting that corruption cases had compelled his political realignment.
Speaking at a party event, Ajit Pawar said that he was accused of stealing the party formed by Sharad Pawar, but the Election Commission of India and the Maharashtra Assembly Speaker ruled in his favour. This has proved that Ajit group is the real NCP.
Without explicitly mentioning his uncle’s name, Ajit Pawar indirectly remarked that had he been born into the family of a senior leader, his trajectory within the party would have led him to naturally assume the presidency, perhaps even consolidating control over the entire organization. However, he pointed out that he was born into the household of Sharad Pawar’s brother. Ajit went on to highlight the familial opposition he faces, suggesting that his own relatives are against him. Despite this familial rift, he emphasized the unwavering support he receives from the party workers, indicating that they stand firmly behind him.

He expressed dismay over the defamation they endured, asserting that accusations insinuating their alliance with the BJP was solely motivated by a desire to halt investigations against them were unfounded. Ajit Pawar posed a rhetorical question, challenging the notion that everyone who is with BJP is facing investigation?
Expanding on his point, the Deputy Chief Minister elaborated that certain individuals who never ascended to ministerial positions were spared from facing corruption allegations. He questioned how such individuals could be implicated in corruption if they never held such significant roles. Ajit Pawar emphasized his own responsibility in governing the state, suggesting that those actively involved in decision-making and implementation were more likely to be targeted with accusations. In contrast, he implied that those who shirked their duties would likely remain untainted. Notably, he referenced Sharad Pawar’s daughter, Supriya Sule, the Baramati MP, highlighting that despite her notable political career, she has not assumed any ministerial roles thus far.
Ajit Pawar went on to express that had he aligned with Sharad Pawar’s preference for the party presidency, he would have likely garnered praise. However, upon assuming leadership himself, he lamented being dismissed as insignificant. Despite this, he affirmed his intention to nominate a candidate from Baramati, even though they have no prior electoral experience. He clarified that despite their lack of personal electoral history, the candidate would be supported by individuals possessing ample experience in the field.
