New Delhi: A person has died after falling into a 40-foot-deep borewell dug in Delhi Jal Board’s plant located in the Keshopur Mandi area. According to the police, the deceased has not been identified yet.
It is being told that at around 1 am on the night of Saturday and Sunday, news of a person falling into a 40 feet deep borewell was received in the water treatment plant of Delhi Jal Board located in Keshopur Mandi area of West Delhi. According to Delhi Police, by 4 am in the morning, NDRF and Delhi Fire Service teams had reached the spot and started the rescue operation.
Delhi’s PWD minister reached the spot and took stock of the situation. Atishi told that the borewell was in a closed room and the person had entered inside by breaking the lock.

News agency PTI quoted a Delhi Police official as saying that after a 14-hour rescue operation by the NDRF and Delhi Fire Service team, the man was pulled out, but by then the man had died.
Giving information about this incident, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal wrote on X, “Sad news came that a man who fell into a borewell was found dead. May his soul rest in peace. I would like to thank NDRF, whose team made every possible effort in the 14-hour rescue operation. NDRF has supported the people of Delhi in every difficult time.”

On the other hand, Delhi BJP state president Virendra Sachdeva while talking to news agency PTI said, “I believe that this incident should be investigated and the officials involved in it punished. A compensation of Rs 1 crore should be given to the victim’s family.”
