Who is Milind Deora?
Milind Deora is the son of late Congress party leader Murli Deora. He graduated in Business Administration from Boston University’s Questrom School of Business. In the 2004 general elections, she won from Mumbai South by defeating BJP’s Jayantiben Mehta by a margin of 10,000 votes.
Milind Deora is married to Pooja Shetty. Pooja Shetty heads film production company Walk Water Media and is the daughter of former Adlabs chairman Manmohan Shetty. In the year 2011, Milind Deora became the Union Minister of State for Communications and Information Technology. Apart from this, in October 2012, he also got the responsibility of Minister of State for Shipping.
Resigned before Rahul Gandhi NYAY Yatra
The day Milind Deora has chosen for his resignation is also special. Rahul Gandhi’s Nyaya Yatra is going to start on 14th January (Sunday) and he has resigned on the same day. Recently made public his displeasure over Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) laying claim to Mumbai South Lok Sabha constituency, told reporters that he is discussing with his supporters.
When asked if he was making any plans with his supporters, he said, “I am listening to my supporters, No decision has been taken yet.”
A day earlier on Saturday, Deora had rejected speculations that he was walking out and joining the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena.
He had termed it as ‘rumours’. Some time back, when the Congress Working Committee was announced, Mallikarjun Kharge had given the responsibility of Joint Treasurer to Milind Deora, but only 20 days later he has decided to leave the Congress Party.
