New Delhi: India, while replying to Turkey and Pakistan in the Human Rights Council of the United Nations, has clearly said that these countries have no right to comment on the internal affairs of India. Both these countries had comments regarding the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
India’s first secretary in the 55th Human Rights Council of the United Nations, Anupama Singh, while replying to Turkey under the ‘Right to Reply’, said, “We are saddened that Turkey commented on India’s internal matter. It is hoped that he will avoid such unnecessary statements in future.”
Human Rights Council of the United Nations: What did Anupama Singh say
Anupama Singh said, “With regard to the extensive references to India made by Pakistan, we note that it is deeply unfortunate for the Council’s platform to have once again been misused to make patently false allegations against India. We will make only three points. One, the entire union territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh are an integral part of India. Two, a country that has institutionalized the systematic persecution of its own minorities commenting on India which is making great strides in achieving economic progress and social justice is not merely ironic but perverse. Three, a country that holds and celebrates UNSC sanctioned terrorists commenting on India is a contrast for everyone to see.”

Anupama Singh further said, “Pakistan is a country which gives shelter to people declared terrorists by the United Nations Security Council and it is blaming India whose democratic credentials are in front of the world.”
Regarding human rights violations in Pakistan, he said, “A country which has institutionalized the oppression of its own minorities and whose human rights record is so bad that its comment on India is not only ironic but also invalid.” An example of this is the large-scale cruelty committed against the minority Christian community in Jaranwala city of Pakistan in August 2023. When 19 churches were burnt and houses of 89 Christian people were burnt.”
He said that we cannot waste any more time on the issues of a country which is stained with the blood of terrorism sponsored across the world, is drowned in debt and has failed to protect the interests of its own countrymen.
