Shimla: Yesterday, in the Rajya Sabha elections in Himachal, 6 Congress MLAs voted for the BJP candidate by cross voting. Since then, the political turmoil in Himachal has intensified.
Since yesterday’s cross-voting of Congress MLAs in the Rajya Sabha elections, BJP has been continuously attacking the Congress government of Himachal. BJP says that the Sukhu government is in minority and the government has no right to continue.
Himachal: Vikramaditya Singh resigned from Sukhu Cabinet
Troubles are not ending for Congress either. Meanwhile, Vikramaditya Singh has resigned from the Sukhu cabinet. Vikramaditya Singh was the Minister of Public Works and Urban Development in the Sukhu government. His mother Pratibha Singh is a Lok Sabha MP from Mandi, Himachal. Vikramaditya Singh’s mother Pratibha Singh is the President of Himachal Pradesh Congress. It is said that Pratibha Singh herself wanted to become the Chief Minister in the 2022 assembly elections, but the Congress high command had made Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu the CM.
Speaking to the media, Vikramaditya Singh said, “The people of Himachal had given majority to Congress and we are not able to handle it, but we have to go into its background. I want to say something about the circumstances under which the Congress government was formed. When the assembly elections were held in 2022, the elections were fought under collective leadership. The face of former Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh was used throughout the campaign. There was no such hoarding which did not have the picture of Virbhadra Singh. A day before the voting, an advertisement was given by the party in the newspapers with the picture of Virbhadra Singh and it was said to remember him. I am accountable to those who have supported us. For me this trust is more important than the position. But in the last one year, MLAs have been ignored. An attempt has been made to suppress the voice of the MLAs. These issues have been continuously raised with the party high command but it was not taken seriously. It is as a result of this we have reached here.”
Himachal: What did CM Sukhu say on the current political situation
Amidst the political turmoil in Himachal, Chief Minister Sukhu says, “He is a warrior and fights every battle like a warrior. I have not resigned. The Congress party government will last for 5 years. This is the government of the common man. The way BJP is behaving in the House is not appropriate. Those who are doing this propaganda should keep in mind that we will prove our majority in the budget session.
Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said that after listening to everyone in Himachal, a detailed report will be prepared and it will be sent to the National President of Congress. Whatever decision must be taken, we will take it. Some tough decisions will have to be taken. But we will not back down from this. Organization is paramount, Congress Party is paramount. Himachal’s mandate is the people’s mandate to Congress.
