Ambala Police on Farmers Protest:
On Thursday night, Ambala Police issued a statement saying, “Every effort is being made to break the barricade at the Shambhu border regarding the march of farmers’ organizations to Delhi. “Attempts are being made to break the law and order by pelting stones at the police and creating a ruckus.”
“The damages caused to government and private properties by the agitators are being assessed. The administration had already warned that the loss caused to the government and private sector during the agitation would be compensated by seizing the property and bank accounts of the agitators. According to the order of the Supreme Court, under the amended Public Property Damage Statement Act 1984, the people calling for the movement and the officials of the organization are held responsible for the loss. Also, during the disturbance in Haryana public order, according to the Recovery of Property Damage Act 2021, there is a provision to recover the loss by confiscating the property and seizing the bank accounts of those who caused the loss.
Earlier Ambala Police said that action is being taken against farmer leaders and officials under the National Security Act (NSA). But then Ambala Police withdrew its decision to take action under NSA.
Ambala Police issued a press note saying, “This is to clarify to all concerned that the matter of invoking provisions of the National Security Act on few farm leader unions of district Ambala has been reconsidered and it has been that the same will not be invoked.” .
Haryana Police appeals to the protesters and their leaders to maintain peace and co-operate with the authorities in maintaining law and order.”
