Delhi Government's grand ramleela celebration
Delhi Government’s Grand Ramleela Celebration : In the countdown to the Pran Pratishtha program at Ayodhya’s Ram temple, the Delhi government, led by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, has announced a three-day Ramlila celebration starting from January 20th to coincide with the consecration ceremony. This decision has not been without controversy, as both the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) engage in a political discourse surrounding the organization of religious events in the capital.
As the clock ticks down to the significant event in Ayodhya on January 22nd, several state governments have chosen to mark the occasion with religious festivities. The Delhi government, in particular, faced a challenge as it claimed that the Central Government did not grant permission to organize Ramlila at Bharat Mandapam in Pragati Maidan. The BJP countered by asserting that permissions were not granted for religious events at Bharat Mandapam.

Undeterred by the controversy, the Delhi government has taken the initiative to organize a grand Ramlila at Pyare Lal Bhawan in ITO. In a statement, the government declared that the performance by ‘Shri Ram Bharatiya Kala Kendra’ would unfold over three days, from 4 pm to 7 pm. This inclusive event invites everyone to witness the Delhi Government’s Grand Ramleela Celebration for free, ensuring broad access to the cultural celebration.
Delhi’s Art, Culture and Languages Minister, Saurabh Bhardwaj, expressed disappointment over the denial of permission to use Bharat Mandapam at Pragati Maidan for the Ramlila. He described the refusal by the BJP-led central government as “extremely saddening.” Despite the setback, the Delhi government remains committed to providing residents and visitors with an opportunity to participate in the festivities surrounding the consecration ceremony in Ayodhya.
The Ramlila in Delhi holds additional significance as it culminates with the consecration ceremony of the Ram temple in Ayodhya. The three-day celebration not only showcases the rich cultural heritage of the city but also acts as a bridge connecting the local populace to the historic event taking place in Ayodhya.
Amidst the preparations, invitations to the Pran Pratishtha ceremony in Ayodhya have been extended to dignitaries from various fields, including political leaders. However, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal revealed that he had not received an invitation and, in response, announced his intention to visit Ayodhya with his family after January 22.
As the political discourse continues, the people of Delhi eagerly anticipate the grand Ramlila organized by the Kejriwal government. Despite the challenges and controversies, the cultural celebration serves as a testament to the city’s resilience and its commitment to fostering inclusivity and religious harmony during significant moments in the nation’s history.
