New Delhi: Congress claims all party’s bank accounts have been frozen, targets BJP, says ‘this is a lockout of democracy’

Congress leader Ajay Maken held a press conference and informed that the accounts of Congress Party and Youth Congress have been frozen.
Ajay Maken said, “Democracy has been attacked, our party’s bank account has been frozen just before the Lok Sabha elections. All the accounts of Congress have been locked. The day before yesterday we got information that the checks issued by the party were not being settled. On further investigation, we came to know that all the accounts of the main opposition party of the country have been frozen.

Just a few days ago, Congress had started a campaign to seek donations for the party. Ajay Maken told in the press conference that till now, under this campaign, Congress party have received donations of about Rs 25 crore.
Ajay Maken also raised questions about its timing and said that only one or two weeks are left for the announcement of elections, before that this step has been taken. Ajay Maken told that the Income Tax Department has also demanded recovery of Rs 210 crore from Congress.
Congress claims:
Congress has claimed that a large part of the money in the bank has been collected through crowdfunding.
The money kept in the account of Youth Congress is the money of membership fees. This matter is said to be related to the income tax return 2018-19.
BJP spokesperson Nalin Kohli said on a channel that the amount is not important, whether there has been a violation, what law has been broken, that is important.
