The Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India issued a press release on this issue, said, “The Government of India Welcomes the release of eight Indian nationals work for the Dahra Global Company who was detailed in Qatar. Seven out of the eight of them has returned to India. We appreciate the decision by the Amir of the state of Qatar to enable the release and home-compensation of these nationals. “
These 8 Indian citizens were arrested in Qatar 2 years ago. However, the reason for his arrest has not been made public till date. But according to many reports, the arrested Indians are accused of sharing sensitive information of the submarine project in Doha with Israel.
After which these 8 Indian citizens were sentenced to death. The case of arrest of these 8 Indian citizens was increasing diplomatic tension between the two countries.
India had also filed an appeal in Doha against the death penalty of these 8 Indian citizens, after which Qatar reduced the death sentence of these Indian citizens in October last year. According to the report of The Hindu, there were a lot of indications that these Indian citizens could be released before Ramadan or Eid.
But this announcement was made 1 day before Prime Minister Narendra Modi went on a 2 -day visit.
The Hindu report also states that about 750 prisoners are still closed in Qatar jails.

In December last year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamd al-Thani of Qatar on the sidelines of the COP 28 conference in Dubai.

The agreement has been reached for the next 20 years and its total cost is $ 78 billion.
From India Qatar, by 2048, it will buy liquidified natural gas (LNG).
India’s largest LNG importing company Petronet LNG Limited (PLL) has entered into the agreement with Qatar’s government company Qatar Energy. Under this agreement, Qatar will export 7.5 million tonnes of gas to India every year. This gas is used to make electricity, fertilizer and convert it into CNG.
