Pradhanmantri Suryoday Yojana : Those enrolled in the Pradhan Mantri Suryoday Yojana will experience a reduction in their electricity bills
New Delhi: The Central Government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has initiated various schemes for the welfare of the country’s citizens. One such program, the Pradhanmantri Suryodaya Yojana, was announced by PM Modi following the Ram Mandir Pran Pratishtha program in Ayodhya. This scheme aims to install solar energy panels on the roofs of one crore houses across the nation. PM Modi chaired a meeting to discuss the implementation of this initiative. In this article, we will elaborate on the beneficiaries of the scheme and its associated rules.
After announcing the Pradhanmantri Suryoday Yojana, Prime Minister Narendra Modi posted from his X handle and wrote, “All the devotees of the world always get energy from the light of Suryavanshi Lord Shri Ram.
Today, on the auspicious occasion of his consecration in Ayodhya, my resolution got further strengthened that the people of India should have their own solar roof top system on the roof of their houses. The first decision I have taken after returning from Ayodhya is that our government will launch Pradhan Mantri Suryodaya Yojana with the target of installing rooftop solar on 1 crore houses.
This will not only reduce the electricity bill of the poor and middle class, but also India will be self-reliant in the field of energy.”

The Pradhan Mantri Suryodaya Yojana is set to be launched for the underprivileged and middle-class population of the nation. This initiative aims to include residents in remote areas. Although the government has not yet released specific guidelines, there are indications that families with an income below Rs 2 lakh will be eligible to avail the benefits of this scheme.
At present one crore people will be brought under the scheme. After installation of solar panels, people will be free from the tension of electricity bills. The people of those states where electricity is very expensive will benefit the most from this scheme.
